Best-selling Authors Sidney and Nancy Kirkpatrick
Named New Editors of Venture Inward Magazine
Virginia Beach, Va. – Longtime friends and champions of the Edgar Cayce work, Sidney and Nancy Kirkpatrick are joining Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. as the new editors of Venture Inward, A.R.E.’s quarterly magazine. Through Sidney’s articles, readers have joined Edgar Cayce in the search for pirate treasure on Lostman’s River in Florida’s Everglades, explored the sunken remains of the torpedoed cruise liner Lusitania, rediscovered the mysteries of an unaccounted for month in the life of Edgar Cayce, and helped reassemble the missing pieces of inventor Thomas Edison’s lost Cayce reading. Nancy Kirkpatrick is a writer, editor, and ghost writer. As a student of the Edgar Cayce readings since her teens, she has long sought to introduce the Cayce material to others.
The Kirkpatrick team brings a unique combination of experience to the magazine. Most notable among their many contributions to Cayce scholarship is their acclaimed biography Edgar Cayce, An American Prophet, (Penguin, 2000). New Yorker magazine called the book a “codex for the new age” and it was hailed by the late Edgar Evans Cayce as the best biography ever written about his father. The couple also consulted and appeared in the award-winning feature documentary movie Edgar Cayce, A Beautiful Dreamer (2004). They have been feature speakers at the Edgar Cayce Hometown Seminar, in Hopkinsville, Ky., and in dozens of other cities throughout North America. Most recently, the Kirkpatricks published True Tales from the Edgar Cayce Archives, Lives Touched and Lessons Learned from the Sleeping Prophet, (A.R.E. Press, 2016) which insightfully explores the stories of individuals who received readings and whose lives were transformed by the Cayce work.
Sidney and Nancy’s partnership began long before they first came to Virginia Beach to research the work of Edgar Cayce. Books they have written and/or edited, together or individually, have reached #1 on the New York Times bestsellers lists and have been translated into as many as 12 languages. These include A Cast of Killers which remained on the best-sellers list for 16 weeks, and The Revenge of Thomas Eakins, which was nominated by Yale University Press for a 2007 Pulitzer prize. Sidney’s latest true-crime thriller, Hitler’s Holy Relics, (initiated with the help of regional coordinator emeritus, Grethe Tedrick), won a top prize at the San Francisco Book Festival. In addition to these and other writing projects, Sidney and Nancy have collaborated with Hollywood screenwriters to help bring Edgar Cayce to the big screen. Sidney and Nancy agree that working together with the Cayce readings has been the adventure of a lifetime, maybe even several lifetimes! But sharing that journey with others and trying to take it global, is what has given their adventure meaning.
