Mountainwolf Chooses A.R.E. Headquarters for Music and Video Recording Location
Virginia Beach, Va. – The headquarters campus of Edgar Cayce’s Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) will serve as the backdrop for psychedelic rock band Mountainwolf’s upcoming sophomore album, Absinthe Moon. The album is scheduled for release in late 2017. The album recording and a music video shoot will take place in multiple locations across the historic A.R.E. grounds at 215 67th Street from May 26 to May 27.
Alexis Jenkins, the band’s manager, says the Annapolis, M.D.-based group was inspired to record and film at the A.R.E. The trio that constitutes Mountainwolf—bassist Chris Gipple, drummer Thomas Coster, and Tyler Vaillant on guitar and vocals—were recently asked about their interest in Edgar Cayce by A.R.E.’s Marketing Director Jennie Taylor Martin:
Q) How did you first learn about Edgar Cayce?
A) Probably similar to a lot of people…when you dig deeper into yourself, you might meet Edgar Cayce.
Q) What kind of influence has the Cayce material had on your life?
A) Lately it seems like his readings have influenced dormant forces to wake up; everything in life seems more connected now than ever. He has influenced us in showing us that all people are much more than we can ever imagine. He was a vessel and a channel for a lot of healing and that is really inspiring.
Q) What made you want to record at A.R.E.’s headquarters?
A) The three of us are from Annapolis, close to D.C., A.R.E. is on the beach and easy to get to for us. But, moreover, we wanted our next record to come from a space with expansive energy; and this is probably the deepest place of truth that we can psychically and physically connect to, some say a vortex point. People tell us that we sound very psychedelic, so I guess that makes us time travelers in a way, too.
Q) Can you tell us a little about what you’ll be recording while on site?
A) Absinthe Moon, our sophomore album; it’s about universal experiences and bigger archetypes.

Edgar Cayce founded the non-profit Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) in 1931, to explore spirituality, holistic health, intuition, dream interpretation, psychic development, reincarnation, and ancient mysteries—all subjects that frequently came up in the more than 14,000 documented psychic readings given by Cayce, who died in 1945. The mission of A.R.E. is simply to help people around the world change their lives for the better through the ideas and information found in the Cayce readings. The Virginia Beach headquarters is a popular site for locals and tourists with free daily lectures, a Health Center & Spa, the Cayce/Reilly® School of Massage, an extensive metaphysical library, a meditation garden, a stone labyrinth, and a Bookstore and Giftshop. Visitors from around the world come to experience the A.R.E. The campus is also home to Atlantic University which offers two masters degrees (Transpersonal Psychology and Leadership Studies) through an online platform, as well as continuing education and certificate programs. Through A.R.E.’s many programs, services, publications, and membership outreach, individuals from all walks of life and religious backgrounds are provided with tools for personal transformation and healing at all levels—body, mind, and spirit.
