Virginia Beach, Va. – As part of its ongoing efforts to support the local Virginia Beach community, Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. is proud to award an annual $1,000 scholarship to an eligible Virginia Beach high school senior. The Edgar Cayce Scholarship Program is now accepting applications for its 2017 scholarship award. To be eligible, applicants will have been accepted to a college undergraduate level curriculum and will have earned a minimum of a 3.0 GPA (or appropriate equivalent of scholastic achievement). The application deadline is April 28, 2017. Download the application form (pdf format) from our website or at VBSchools.com.
The goal of the Edgar Cayce Scholarship Program is to promote the education of students interested in or studying fields associated with holistic living, a fundamental concept found in the Edgar Cayce material. Scholarships are intended to give financial assistance to students who will be majoring in a course curriculum related to holistic health, philosophy, social work, personal spirituality, and/or quality of life through mind-body-spirit integration. Each applicant is evaluated on a variety of factors, including academic achievement (minimum 3.0 or appropriate equivalent), community service, and a 500 to 650 word essay based on the Cayce principle “Make the world a better place in which to live.” A.R.E. staff members, volunteers, and their family members, are not eligible for this scholarship.
The Edgar Cayce Scholarship Program, created in 2007, exists due to the generosity of long-time A.R.E. member Nancy Clark and the George Clark Foundation. Since its inception, the program has awarded more than $20,000 in local scholarships. The award recipients will be recognized by A.R.E. staff and volunteers in a brief ceremony and featured in Venture Inward, the A.R.E.’s quarterly membership magazine.
