Edgar Cayce’s readings indicate that numbers can have meaning in our lives. In 1931, Edgar was asked to give a discourse on the topic of Numerology (5751-1.) He suggests Numerology can offer indications about a person’s tendencies and strengths. Cayce also said that numbers offer us signs about the future while reminding us that numerology—like astrology—does not predict our destiny. “They are merely omens or signs; not factors that produce.” (462-11)
Of the numerous schools of Numerology, I have found Tarot numerology to be an invaluable tool for those looking to gain a deeper understanding of their soul’s purpose, strengths, and challenges as well as the tools they brought with them in the form of their personality.
How is Tarot Numerology Different?
Like traditional Numerology, Tarot Numerology uses your birthdate and converts it into a series of numbers. Differently, Tarot Numerology only uses the numbers 1-22, which then correlate to one of Tarot’s 22 Major Arcana. Each Tarot card carries it’s own energy, lesson, strength, and weakness. These attributes are then used to describe you, offering insight into your strengths, weaknesses, and cycles as well as your Karmic Year, Personality energy, and Soul energy.
What Is a Karmic Year?
Your Karmic Year uncannily points to a significant time or event in your overall life journey. Adding the digits of your birthday gives you the Karmic Year. I usually look within 6 months on either side of the Karmic Year for relevance. In Edgar’s case, adding his birthday of 3+18+1877, his Karmic year was 1898. In June 1898, Edgar lost his job and worked in a dry goods store. In the previous year, Edgar married Gertrude with whom he had many lifetimes and a karmic relationship. Using the A.R.E.’s incorporation date of 7+7+1931, the organization’s Karmic Year is 1945, a year that saw the passing of both Edgar Cayce and Gertrude Evans Cayce.
How to Find Your “Personality Number”
Your Personality Number offers insight into the personality you have chosen in order to make the most of this incarnation. Your Personality Number is found by adding together the 4-digits of your Karmic Year. If the resulting number is between 1-22, that is your Personality Number. The Tarot Card with the corresponding number characterizes your Personality energy. For Edgar Cayce, his Karmic Year added together (1+8+9+8) is 26, since it’s over 22, you reduce it again and reach the number 8, which corresponds to the Strength Tarot card.
How to Find Your Soul Number?
Your Soul Number represents the strengths, challenges, and soul memory or karma you have developed over lifetimes. To find the Soul Number, reduce the Personality Number. In the case of Cayce’s Personality number, you can’t reduce it further than the single digit of 8, so his Soul Number number and Personality Number are the same. You could say Edgar Cayce chose to bring double the soul energy and align his Soul and Personality toward the same goals. His Soul Number, 8, is associated with the Strength Tarot card, representing our spiritual essence (the woman) working together with our physical body (the Lion.) Edgar Cayce’s work with over 10,000 topics promoting both a healthy physical life and spiritual development is in complete alignment with his Tarot numerology. Called the Father of Holistic Medicine, Cayce understood that for a healthy life both the body and the spiritual self must be balanced and supported.
Working with Tarot Numerology for over 25 years, I have been amazed by the insight and clarity offered to those looking for a better understanding of the strengths, challenges and goals their soul chose for this lifetime.
