This is my update for October 2014 to A.R.E. members and friends who are interested in the new and exciting trends occurring within Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. and Atlantic University. A number of exciting things are happening this month! Please share the following with your friends:

DOUGLAS AND DARIAN TORRANCE CREATE THE FIRST-EVER LIBRARY ENDOWMENT FUND
Longtime members, Doug and Darian Torrance of Columbus, Ohio, were moved by the letter they received from Charles Thomas Cayce to pledge $25,000 to establish the Douglas and Darian Torrance Library Endowment Fund - the first such endowment for the Library. Funds generated by the Torrance Endowment will augment the Library's program budget annually in perpetuity! “We are moved to support the A.R.E. Library since it has such a large influence and strong effect on all three major areas of the Edgar Cayce work: A.R.E., Atlantic University, and the Edgar Cayce Foundation,” Doug said at the Endowment Signing Ceremony in September. “We are grateful for all we have received from the Cayce material and want to give back to the future.” Thank you, Doug and Darian!
HUGH LYNN CAYCE ENDOWMENT CHALLENGE
Two longtime A.R.E. members have pledged $10,000 toward our Hugh Lynn Cayce Endowment Fund – supporting A.R.E.’s operations – as a Matching Gift Challenge. YOUR MONTHLY CREATE CAMPAIGN UPDATE
With just 16 months left in our $30 million CREATE Comprehensive Campaign (capital, endowment, and programs); we have reached the $25.5 million mark! With the Cayce Hospital renovations successfully completed and over $6 million raised already toward our $7.5 million capital project goal, we now turn our attention to building our endowment – currently $4million in investments and $1million in real estate. We need to raise an additional $2 million before the end of the Campaign next year (December 31, 2015). We still need endowment funds to be established (by you?) for our various programs like Prison Outreach, Prayer, Camp, and our schools (Atlantic University and Cayce/Reilly School of Massage) as well as the A.R.E. in general. You are still supporting our day-to-day program operations in wonderful ways. We have raised well over $18 million for these great programs already! Thank you.
CAYCE/REILLY® SCHOOL OF MASSAGE
We are very pleased that the Cayce/Reilly School of Massage welcomed 17 students for the Fall semester – AND we’ve already received a record number of inquiries for January 2015.
And thanks to A.R.E. Life Member Sheila Garrett of Virginia, it will now be much easier for retiring veterans to enter the field of Massage Therapy. Sheila has gifted A.R.E. with the creation of the George Williams Garrett Fund for Veteran Support, in memory of her husband, to honor his service to our country, and to support our veterans. The fund will facilitate enrollment for these returning service men and women, by getting word to them about the Cayce/Reilly School’s highly respected, COMTA accredited program, the GI bill availability for tuition, career opportunities, and job placement assistance upon graduation. THE A.R.E. HEALTH CENTER & SPA
Your A.R.E. Health Center & Spa rolls out a new brochure in October, including Personal Counseling, new Clinical Spa Packages and, by popular demand, a Back Facial – which will be the Cayce-traditional hot-towel and clay “facial” method, and includes foot massage to raise the relaxation value! In each of the last few months, the Spa has welcomed close to 200 new clients per month. From October 20-26, we are participating as a provider in the national Spa Week, when we’ll have 1-hour Cayce/Reilly® Massage, Acupressure, or CranioSacral Therapy for $50 each. The summer is officially over at A.R.E. Camp and the mountains are now blanketed in autumn colors after a joyful and laughter filled summer. A.R.E. Campers enjoyed vibrant Children’s Camps, and two sold-out Family Camps, including one with Kevin Todeschi! This summer, thanks to the support of many generous individuals, we were able to offer scholarships to over 20 children and families in need of a little extra help to make their Camp dreams come true. We’re already looking forward to our 2015 season – it’s going to be full of new adventures, wonderful fresh food, laughter, and friends sharing in living the legacy Edgar Cayce in the sublime beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
