Many years ago, a teacher of mine predicted that the circumstances in the world would become more challenging. She said that people would have to decide what they stand for, and that they would no longer be able to straddle the fence.
As I survey the world that we live in, the reality of this prediction couldn’t be starker. On the one side there are those focused on SERVICE TO OTHERS, while on the other side are those focused on SERVICE TO SELF. The patterns of behavior are clear, and the gap is getting wider. Given the situation, I wonder how many people know what side of the fence they are on and what they really stand for.
This may seem like a strange question, but Cayce was clear about its importance:
Learn, or teach, or train the body – not only to be good, but be good FOR something. Let there be known there is a duty to self, and hope in service – for without service to the other, one may gain little in THIS experience in life’s forces, for Life itself IS a service. Use not abuse.
- Edgar Cayce reading (53-1)
In our desire to be of service, many of us struggle to know what that “good for something” is. We want to apply our unique skills, talents and capabilities so that we can be of greatest service, but then we question ourselves and doubt whether we are even on the right track.
For those seeking answers to these questions, the best place to start is with the intuition rather than the intellect.
The more and more each is impelled by that which is intuitive, or the relying upon the soul force within, the greater, the farther, the deeper, the broader, the more constructive may be the result.
- Edgar Cayce reading (792-2)
When we bring the experience of oneness into our consciousness and let that be our guide, not only will it give us the clarity we seek, but it will also put us on the path of service to others through the high vibrations that will emanate from us. Cayce talked about the importance of:
….raising the Christ Consciousness in self to such an extent as it may flow out of self to him thou would direct it to.
- Edgar Cayce reading (281-7)
For those who find it challenging trying to decipher that still small voice within, there are several tools that can help. A pendulum, for instance, can be very effective in making the wisdom of the intuition visible in a clear and concrete way. Whether you are seeking answers to questions (such as what is your mission and purpose in life), or are trying to figure out what Cayce remedies might be right for you, the pendulum can offer great insights to guide your decision making.
When it comes to the health readings, Cayce was clear that treatments for particular ailments should NOT be “lifted” from an individual reading and tried by another individual except under the supervision of a licensed health care professional. However, we do have a vast body of knowledge that we can draw on, and a tool like a pendulum can offer valuable insights into specific health issues we may be facing.
For instance: say you or a loved one has psoriasis – a skin condition that is considered by the medical community to be incurable. According to the Cayce Health Database online: “Treatment (for psoriasis) is often expensive and time consuming. Experimentation may be required to determine an effective treatment for each individual. A vast array of therapies, including medicines, ointments, creams, lotions and phototherapy are used with varying success”.
This begs the question: who should be responsible for leading the experimentation? You? Your doctor? The two of you together? Cayce talked about the importance of taking responsibility for our own healing process, and since healing isn’t just a physical matter, it is essential that we are each full participants in this process.
So how might one introduce the intuition into an intellectual conversation with your doctor? If it were me, I would gather all the data I could from the Cayce readings ahead of time and ask questions using my pendulum and the basic treatment protocols as a guide. In the case of psoriasis, I might ask whether internal cleansing would be beneficial, and whether a colonic irrigation is indicated. Then I might ask whether herbal teas will help heal the gut, and whether slippery elm bark tea is beneficial in the morning with American yellow saffron tea in the evening. After that I would inquire about diet and nutrition, and whether my body could tolerate certain foods or whether they are taboo. Then I would check whether a spinal adjustment is needed to improve nerve functioning, and whether work should be done on my attitudes and emotions.
I would ask these questions in an attitude of openness and curiosity, eager to see how the pendulum (as a proxy for the intuition) would respond to each question. Once I had the results, I would go into a moment of stillness and listen deeply, testing everything in the “laboratory” of my own mind. Then during the doctor’s appointment, I would ask whether any of the remedies shortlisted would be beneficial in healing my condition. Folks do research online all the time and use it as a basis for discussion with their doctor, so why not take this a step further ask your inner self what is for your highest and best good?
Once you have determined the best course of action with your doctor, consider keeping a journal with your findings. For example, you can rate certain biomarkers (skin rash, digestive discomfort, etc.) on a scale from 1-10, and then see for yourself whether the intervention has eased or exacerbated your condition. This will not only be useful feedback for your doctor, but it will also help you determine whether your intuition was accurate in guiding you to a remedy that was right for you.
Cayce said there is no force in the universe more powerful than your willpower. When we harness this energy, we are capable of extraordinary things.
Ye are a corpuscle in the body of God; thus a co-creator with Him, in what ye think, in what ye do
- Edgar Cayce reading (2794-3)
and
Until ye become as a savior, as a help to some soul that has lost hope, lost its way, ye cannot fully comprehend the god within, and god without.
- Edgar Cayce reading (1158-14)
