Popular Evening Forum “Retires” After 32 Years
Free Conscious Community Lecture Steps In
Virginia Beach, Va. – For the past 32 years, on the last Wednesday each month, the Association for Research and Enlightenment Visitor Center has served as host location for free mind, body, and spirit lectures open to the public during what was called the Edgar Cayce Forum. Not an A.R.E.-sponsored program but lovingly organized by private citizens Day Schwartz and her husband (and more recently, daughter, Lindy), The Forum, as it became known, was one of the most well-attended events open to the public on the A.R.E. campus. Last month, Schwartz “retired” from coordinating the event, marking its unofficial official end.
As a tribute to The Forum, and to provide a similar service to the interested public, for 2019 the A.R.E. will move its Conscious Community Lecture Series to that same “last Wednesday each month” evening timeslot. “Our free Conscious Community series was historically held monthly on a Tuesday morning,” said Christi George, manager of A.R.E.’s Bookstore & Gift Shop, which coordinated the series. “With this change, we hope to fill a need served by the Forum, and give those with more traditional work shifts a chance to attend free evening events.”
The first Conscious Community Lecture of 2019 takes place Jan. 30 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., in the Visitor Center Main Auditorium—and the public is invited to attend, free of charge. Interested participants can join in as the A.R.E. bids a “farewell and thanks” to the Edgar Cayce Forum founders, and welcomes the Conscious Community Lecture Series to its new day and time! Special guest speaker will be Annette Gerwitz, a psychic medium with more than 14 years in practice in Gloucester, Va., who conducts intuition and mediumship development workshops.
Edgar Cayce founded the non-profit Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) in 1931, to explore spirituality, holistic health, intuition, dream interpretation, psychic development, reincarnation, and ancient mysteries—all subjects that frequently came up in the more than 14,000 documented psychic readings given by Cayce, who died in 1945. The mission of A.R.E. is simply to create opportunities for profound personal change in body, mind, and spirit through the wisdom found in the Edgar Cayce material. The Virginia Beach headquarters is a popular site for locals and tourists with free daily lectures, a Health Center & Spa, the Cayce/Reilly® School of Massage, an extensive metaphysical library, a meditation garden, a stone labyrinth, and a bookstore and gift shop. The campus is also home to Atlantic University which offers two masters degrees (Transpersonal Psychology and Mindful Leadership) through an online platform, as well as continuing education and certificate programs. Through A.R.E.’s many programs, services, publications, and membership outreach, individuals from all walks of life and religious backgrounds are provided with tools for personal transformation and healing at all levels.
